Two children’s actual fingerprints on one ring – excellent custom service

I ordered a sterling silver fingerprint band using the actual fingerprints of my two children, aged 7 and 2, as a birthday present for their mam.

I wanted two separate fingerprints on the outside of the same band, rather than having them blended into one continuous pattern, with each child’s name engraved on the inside corresponding to their fingerprint. Tanya was able to accommodate all of this as a custom design.

Taking a usable fingerprint from a two-year-old was understandably the part I was least confident about! I sent Tanya several prints from both children and she checked them before proceeding, confirming that the quality was suitable and selecting the usable areas for the finished piece.

Communication throughout was excellent. Tanya answered my questions about the design, sizing and finishing options, including giving me detailed information about gold plating when I was considering having the finished silver ring plated. There was no pressure to add anything unnecessary, and I was able to order the sterling-silver version first.

The turnaround was particularly impressive. My order was placed on 15 September for a birthday on 23 September, and the completed ring arrived on 18 September. Obviously customers should check availability rather than assume that turnaround will always be possible, but in my case Tanya accommodated a very short deadline.

The finished ring has two clearly distinguishable fingerprint impressions separated by polished sections of the band. The children’s names are engraved discreetly on the inside corresponding with their respective fingerprints. The prints retain a surprising amount of ridge detail considering the size of the jewellery.

The ring arrived boxed in a Mini Memento presentation pouch, together with a handwritten note and care advice for the sterling silver.

One point worth knowing when choosing this type of jewellery is that it is visibly handmade rather than looking like a completely machine-produced, uniform band. Close inspection shows the natural variation associated with the fingerprint impressions and hand finishing; at normal wearing distance these details form part of the character and texture of the piece.

Having now received and inspected it, I’m extremely pleased with both the finished ring and the service. Most importantly for me, it has turned two ordinary fingerprints from the children into a piece of jewellery that is personal without looking overly sentimental.

Really easy process to get the kids finger prints and loved that I had the option to get an indent too so I can never forget how small they were!
